On Sunday, September 25th at 10:15pm Ieva Kirstine was born via c-section after 12 hours of active labor. We weren't thrilled with the idea of needing a cesarean, but after being in labor for 12 hours and not dilating further than 8 cm, our doctor strongly recommended we put aside our desire for a natural delivery for the sake of a healthy baby. They numbed me from the chest down & wheeled me into the operating room where Andrew could only watch from a window. After Ieva was born, they showed her to me & then took her to Andrew who got to hang out with her for her first hour of life while I was getting stitched up, which made for some special daddy-daughter bonding time. She was born as healthy & as beautiful as they come!
